About us

Phobetor is a central Europe based F-18 squadron and we’re on the lookout for new recruits who are ready to join us for fun and realistic missions!

Our squadron, currently consisting of 8 active members, operates in a semi-milsim style, doing two events every week. Our events are held on our self hosted server with weekly custom missions that are dynamic, realistic, come with good briefings and above all, are a bunch of fun!

We are committed to mastering the Hornet and following real-life procedures and comms, but without being overly strict. We value your time, so there’s no expectation for our squadron members to study on their own (as long as you meet our entry requirements). Instead, we offer weekly training sessions where we dive into various features and procedures of the Hornet in a relaxed way.

Operations gallery

Here are two missions we’ve flown to give you a glimpse of our operations.

Deep strike training 29/9/24

This mission focused on precision strike deep in hostile airspace. Having to navigate through valleys and stay undetected to deploy SLAM-ER’s at a high value command base.

Participants

Dirt, Zolphic, “Fox Two”, TilderGrill

Debriefing

Our navigation through mountainous terrain and adherence to altitude restrictions to avoid enemy detection were excellent. However, all of our missiles failed to follow their programmed paths, (thanks to a DCS bug, of course) leaving the base largely unscathed. Except for one target that mysteriously combusted.

Outcome: Partial success

Anti-ship scramble training 21/9/24

In this training mission we were faced with an opportunity to destroy two stranded ships carrying critical supplies to a nearby dock. Our task was to scramble as quickly as possible and sink the ships along with their cargo, making use of decoys to allow our harpoons to hit.

Participants

Dirt, Zolphic, “Fox Two”, TilderGrill

Debriefing

We managed to scramble super quickly and deployed our weapons on time. The decoys flew perfectly above the ships and triggered a lot of sam’s to fire. However, the harpoons had a mind of their own, and went for the repair ship instead of the cargo ships. Although not ideal, this delayed the repair enough for them to be destroyed later.

Outcome: Success

Join us

Are you interested in joining us? We are open to welcoming new members, but we maintain standards to ensure everyone can fully enjoy and contribute to the squadron. To become a full on squadron pilot, you’ll need foundational skills in flying, combat basics, situational awareness, and general DCS experience.

That said, don’t be discouraged if you don’t meet all the requirements yet. If you’re close but need a bit more experience, we offer a Cadet role to help you develop your skills and prepare for full membership in the squadron.

Requirements to join:

  • Be 16+ years old.
  • Be available regularly for our training on Fridays and missions on Sundays, both starting at 20:00 CET/CEST.
  • Have experience with DCS AG and AA combat, ideally in the hornet.
  • Be familiar with the hornet cockpit and systems.
  • Be able to perform procedures like CASE I landings, formation flying, and AAR.
  • Own the hornet, supercarrier and Syria map.
